EWW. Cat caught a mouse.

I was sitting on the couch feeding DD2 her yogurt when I looked over into the kitchen area at our cat who had been hopping around and purring.  I figured he'd found a toy or something.  I looked a little closer and his "toy" was gray and fuzzy.  It looked like a piece of lint.  Then I saw a tail =O

I jumped up and woke up my husband, who disposed of it after determining it was in fact dead.  Thankfully my cat left it fully intact... just dead =/.

So now I feel like deep cleaning the house.. which is in order anyhow because we're moving in the coming months.  But I have kids and they're messy eaters and I'm just worried that the random cheerio that rolled here or the crumbs that are here or there might be attracting the mice.

I saw one about 6 months ago on our back stairs (enclosed porch) and set a trap (sorry animal lovers, that one was a huge one) and caught it.  A few months ago I saw one upstairs in MILs kitchen.  MIL said that she saw the same one a week later as she was going to the bathroom, her screaming, it frantically running in circles (I just thought that was hilarious).

SO I'm a bit freaked out because as you know we have an open living space so that mouse was not only in my kitchen, but my living room, play area, and bedroom.  EEK!

My cat got rewarded and is sitting on his high throne right now (really, he's proudly sitting atop my dresser purring).

Yay! Good for your cat. Maybe put out some snap traps in the attic and crawl space.Wherever the cat can not go. Don't do poison. The decomp smell is horrid!

When you see one you can pretty much count on there being a LOT more. It is common for them to come in to home in the winter months. Your best bet is to get a pest control company to come in and plug up all the possible entrances or to do it your self.

Or move far far far from MILs basement! ;)

I found out that my grandmother-in-law (lives upstairs) put out poison in the back of her stove, fridge, and back of one kitchen cabinet... so I'm going to get snap traps to make sure my cat doesn't eat a poisoned rat!  eek!
