really bad cough

Hi mamas,

what do I do about a cough? My DD started out with what started out with sort of an irritated cough and now it has turned into a hacking, horrible cough that is interfering with her life. Is there any remedies you use? She is only 6 mths.

When she went to the doctor he said, "cold" but not much else.

Hi!

do you have a humidifier or a vaporizer? That might help. Also, if she is congested as well running the hot water in your shower for a bit and then taking her to be in the steamy bathroom for a while might help to clear some of it up. I don't think they can really take anything by mouth for a cough at that age. Just plenty of breastfeeds and extra water maybe if she's having a hard time nursing. Good luck!

hmm, tried the shower but not much difference. I suppose we will just set up camp in the bathroom and hang with the steam in hopes it loosens her up. Thanks for the suggestions!
