Argh! My husband left town with the baby and without milk for the day.

Long story short, he took our son (almost 7 months) 90 minutes away, for something school-related for his daughter. He got there and realized he didn't take the pumped milk.

So, it's off to the drugstore for (bleh) formula, probably just a pack of ready-to-use, so he doesn't have to worry about water. Not that he'll actually willingly drink it (he's had maybe 9 ounces of formula in his life, when we needed to get him through some bad jaundice and weight loss but my milk hadn't come in yet).

I know, it's not poison, and he's a very robust 7 months (over 20 pounds), not weeks, so going for maybe 8 hours without much to eat won't be too bad, and maybe he will just eat the formula if he's hungry enough. He doesn't take solids well yet (just plays with them, throws them at the dog, etc.), either.

I'm not particularly mad at my husband--again, long story short, he's running for office and survived a primary LAST NIGHT so his mind is in 90 different places, and lord knows I've forgotten things (though obviously I don't have to remember milk). Still, sigh.

i think it's easier to not beat yourself up with the thought in mind that if he's started solids or going to start he's going to be eating a wide variety of stuff anyway....formula is just another type of food.

my babe would never take a bottle and sometimes i just needed her to. so after she started solids i figured, eh, might as well try the bottle with formula...maybe she just gets mad that i'm giving her breastmilk without the real breast. well anyway, she took the bottle fine....first time after trying for 3 months...with formula.

best of luck with yours!

Yeah...by my count, he's eaten dog hair, pizza crust, toilet paper, and blackberry soda already, all unintentionally.

(Oh, and avocado, oatmeal, banana, green beans, carrots.)

I haven't heard much from my husband today (other than a text indicating everything was fine, but there's been a comedy of errors today), so we'll see what happens when we get home.

Update: He snarfed down about 6 ounces of formula and promptly went to sleep. All's well.

Glad to hear it!  Now just tell me he left the day's milk in the fridge and not sitting on the counter.  (I have done this exactly once and I can't tell you what it felt like to dump a whole day's work down the drain...)
