What is going on with my cycle this month?! Please look at my chart and help!

Hi everyone,

I am 13DPO right now with high temps but got a BFN yesterday at 12DPO, day 31 of cycle. I am typically a 28-day cycle but i have had some wonky cycles since the m/c. Despite the strange cycles, my leutal phase has always been between 9 and 11 days.

So...What is going on?? Is it possible to have a BFN if you're pregnant at 12 DPO? I thought 12 DPO and later was supposed to be a sure outcome on a test? Is it possible that I am having a weird longer-than-usual leutal phase even though that has never happened before?

It's been a long and bumpy road for us (TTC for more than a year with one m/c @ 10.5 weeks) and we've just made appointments with the fertility specialist, so this would be such a blessing!!!!! I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

Thanks for helping.

Here's my chart if you want to take a peek:

I looked at your chart, and it definitely looks possible that you're pregnant, especially since you're past the usual end of your luteal phase.  My first response early response tests have an insert, and it says that it detects hcg in "62% of women 5 days before their expected period, 78% of women 4 days before their expected period, 87% of women 3 days before their expected period, and in 98% of women 2 days before their expected period."  It also says, "some pregnant women may not have detectable amounts of pregnancy hormone in their urine on the first day of their missed period".  There have been a few cases I have heard of on here where women didn't test positive for months into a pregnancy.

I'm not 100% sure that the FRER's "days before their expected period" necessarily expects you to know your LP length.  When I read that originally, I assumed that it meant 9DPO when it said "5 days before expected period".  So if you were using an equally sensitive test, and my interpretation is correct, you would still have had a 98% success rate with testing.  There is that other 2% though.

I hope you get your answer soon in the form of a BFP!

Hugs to you.

Good luck AMO! I'm kind of in the same boat as you, but without the chart data to tell me anything. CD39, BFN, average cycles for me are 33, and max has been 36 in the last six months. Here's hoping those tests just don't know yet!

amo: If you look on fertility friend, you will find dozens or more charts on there with a BFN at 12, 13, 14 DPO and a BFP later. I know some people can test positive at 8 and 9 and 10 DPO, but not everyone can, and then on top of that, every pregnancy is different.

My chart will be one of those I mentioned - BFN at 12DPO and then BFP at 14DPO. The HPT companies have made them so sensitive that we really assume they'll always be right when we test early, but it's not true. I'd give it another day or two and test again. You're not out unless the witch shows her face!
