Amazon food??

I seen on the news where they r doing free shipping on groceries. Just wondering if anyone has used them and you're experience with prices and such. We only have a privately owned store here that is so expensive any of the cheaper stores are 30 to 50 miles so cost and time makes it expensive. Just trying to cut my grocery budget down.

Thanks

I do alot of shopping at Amazon for food and other items. But it's like any other store....some of the food prices are great and others not so much. You really just have to shop around and see what items they have that you use that are cheaper than your local stores. When they run their specials, (very often) that's when you really save. Also sign up for subscribe and save and you can save even more. Check out their food coupons here:

And look around...there are great deals to be had but you have to search and watch their specials. Also, some prices are the same as local stores but getting free delivery to your house is worth paying the same price. joy.gif

I've used Amazon for some grocery things.  The subscription plans usually help save big money, and you can always cancel or delay/change shipments.

I've been happy with the items I've bought through them.  We also buy Goodnights (well the Pampers' version Underjams) from the Amazon Mom plan.  They save us big... 30% off... as DS1 still wets the bed, and our attempts at cloth solutions did not work at all. :(

Wow, I hadn't thought to buy night time pull ups from Amazon, those are insanely cheaper than at the grocery store!  How well do the Underjams fit?  My son is nearly 4, and weighs 36 pounds and it very muscular and somewhat thin.  Just wondering how well they might fit him.  I wish they had an XS size rather than starting at S/M.  At that price though, I just might try it.  We have tried so many brands, it is getting crazy expensive.

DS is a chubby little guy, so he wears the L/XL ones.  They fit him well.  I honestly haven't noticed any difference vs. the Goodnites.  But price-wise, there's a big difference.

I just realized I can order a sample of both Goodnites and Underjams from their websites.  They take over 2 months to arrive though, so I think I am going to order a pack of night time Pull-Ups to tide us over for now.  I am so glad you posted this.  I have been paying over 50 cents a pull-up in the grocery store, and with the subscribe-and-save, they are down to 34 cents!  Woo Hoo!  Thanks so much!

So, I just did a search for flushable wipes, which we use often.  DS is just learning to wipe his own bum, and these make it much more likely that he will actually get himself clean.  I can't believe how much cheaper they are with the subscribe-and-save.  I feel like such a dope for not checking Amazon for these instead of buying them at the store!

I find that some of Amazon prices are not really worth it compared to waiting for local sales.  But I do use it for certain things.  I have free amazon prime shipping because I am a student which makes it much more worth it because I don't feel as if I have to wait to spend the minimum amount for free shipping. But some of their prices on things are crazy more expensive than the local grocery store.  Be vigilant.

Did you ever notice how some sellers list things at outrageously high prices, sometimes hundreds more than you can get them locally?   What is up with that?  Do people really buy those books/items?  I was going to order a case of our favorite Newman's own salsa because we eat alot of it and I thought it would be easier to have a case.  But the only seller on Amazon wanted many times the supermarket price.  Are these sellers relying on people's ignorance and lack of control to make a huge profit???  I have been wondering because I sell books on Amazon (mostly my used textbooks).  Maybe I could make alot more??  I usualy go cheap price to sell fast.  But I see used books with a range of $2 to, say $200.  Same book, similar condition.  Who buys the $200 book?  and why don't they return it when they see the bill??  Or is the assumption that most people won't even realize the error?  Watch your backs on Amazon!!

Try it!  You might love it, I got my olive oil today.  I get diapers (tomorrow) and use subscribe and save where I can - even on some coffee.  Although they seem to be eliminating lots of product from that program and some prices have gone up since the new year. But its a good deal on lots of things.  Plus no shipping costs and not having to drive around looking for something....is fantastic in my opinion.

The pull-ups, flushable wipes and dried apples that I have coming soon were all nearly HALF of the price that I usually pay in stores around here.  I was pretty shocked to see how much cheaper the subscribe and save items were.  Thanks so much for this thread!
