I've always noticed that polar fleece soaks up smells, so we really don't use it for clothes anymore, but my dog loves to cuddle and chew blankets so we bought her a cheap polar fleece throw blanket from Ikea... we've thrown one out already due to the smell but I'd like to make this one last longer. I have a new, fairly fancy washer and have tried the steam cycle, allergen cycle, sanitize cycle, extra rinse cycle... I hate smelly stuff so don't want to cover up the dog smell with something else. I'm washing it right now with vinegar, but not sure it's going to do the trick as I haven't had great luck in the past with it, though it seems to help a bit.
