Re-purposing wooden crib

I received a wooden drop side crib (before they were banned) and DS has never slept in it anyways! How can it be re-purposed?

We're going to turn ours into a wooden bench.  I thought that would be good since there are so many slats.  All three of my kids slept in it(sometimes), so it's sentimental to me. Luckily, my husband has woodworking skills.

My neighbor turned her sides into trellises for her beans to climb up in the garden.

I found an old cot at a Garage Sale that I couldn't leave behind. I thought I'd make it into a clothesrack/wardrobe, which I did, and people loved it.

My friends are using it in their shop at the moment, and I recently found another almost matching cot at the Rubbish Tip for $4, and we're going to make that into another one :)

I used the spring platform from my cribs in my garden and they have climbing jasmine growing on them.

My friend used hers to cover the radiator in her babies room.  She dropped the sides down to make a gate around the radiator and raised the bed platform up to use as a shelf.  Very cute and practical.

I saw a blog post where someone had put a crib on a wooden wagon and used it to pull kids around in.  Super cute.

Wow, Fiddle Fingers, I love what you did!

We had a wood bassinet (so a bit shorter) and we re-purposed it as a magazine rack.  It's full of Harrowsmith and Mother Earth News, now!

Love the shop display!  We removed the front of our crib (the design of the crib makes this possible, and it is still stable), and pushed it up against the bed as a co-sleeper.  We have bed rails on each side of the big bed, and the rail is down under the crib mattress so that there is no gap between the bed and crib.  When we no longer need it as a co-sleeper, we will use it as a seat by lowering the mattress and using a daybed type of coverlet with cool throw pillows.  It has sentimental value for us and we will def. keep it around!

The magazine rack idea actually gives me an idea to use an old crib to hang my different fabrics on.  Perfectly spaced dowels.  I keep seeing drop sided cribs out in the trash.  Now I am so going to pick one up and use it for this purpose.  I have so much fabric that I can't see because it is stuffed in boxes.  I need inspiration to create new sewn items!
