Does dairy cause bed wetting?

Some months ago, my 6 year old DS was going through this spell of bed wetting.  We noticed at that time, that what changed was at night, he started drinking milk before bed.  We stopped it and the bed wetting stopped.  Last week, we picked up a batch of ice cream and he started eating it after supper.  Started wetting the bed again!  We stopped the ice cream and the bed wetting stopped.  Does this mean he is allergic to dairy?  I'm concernced because we put yogurt in his lunch and he's on the school milk program.  We haven't noticed anything else in his behaviour but none the less, if there is an allergy I need to find out.

Thanks.

I can't help, but I'd like to hear what others have to say.

My son wasn't a bedwetter either and a couple weeks ago he did twice out of three nights. I know one of the nights he had pizza for supper and ice cream before bed. I brought him to the chiro and he hasn't wet the bed since.

Well I googled this, and as it turns out it seems to be quite prevelant out there.  So...we will illiminate dairy maybe 4 hrs prior to going to bed and see what happens.

My youngest just started staying dry at night a few months ago after being potty trained for 2 years.  He is allergic to dairy but hasn't had any in that two years.  So maybe, maybe not.

Well DS was doing fine and last night DH gave him ice cream again!  I started questioning him, 'What are you doing!!"" DH states, "it's early, it's only 6pm if he has to go to the bathroom it'll all happen before bed time"

And guess what happened?  DS wet the bed again.

No more dairy period.  I think yogurt is okay but the high concentration that is in milk and ice cream are out.  I have to find a non dairy desert like ice cream - does such a think exist?

My almost 13 yo DS had issues with bedwetting and dairy.  Now if he gets too much dairy, he will have acne.

any sensitivity can present with enuresis.  yes, there is a correlation between dairy and bed wetting *in susceptible individuals.*  It certainly doesn't hurt to cut it and find out if it's the case for your kiddo.

For us, bedwetting was a symptom of dairy intolerance.

Tell your dh that the affect of a food sensitivity/allergy on urination is to cause more FREQUENT urination.

There can also be increased urgency of urination where you feel like  you're bladder is completely full and you have to pee RIGHT now, and there's like 1/2 an oz. Over and over and over again for hours--OMG I hate it when that happens. For me, it seems to be associated with large amounts of wheat and sugar.
