multiples mommas talk to me about solids

So my girls are four months old.    They are EBF (yay!) but do nurse NON.STOP.   which I am fine with... they are gaining, happy, all of that jazz.    Yesterday I was holding one and eating a sweet potato.   She was grabbing for it so I let her have a bite.   She LOVED it and started grabbing for more.   I did let her have more... she probably ate an oz or two total.    She had just nursed.   She nursed again about an hour later, so it didnt replace nursing and she still woke up 10 billion times at night to nurse.

They seem to really want food.  Did you start any earlier with your twins?   I am wondering if they are just ready earlier.... I know all of the research out there.... I've read it all.... sometimes I think with multiples the rules tend to get broken some though.   But I'm feeling like I did something wrong by not waiting til the magical six months.... I guess I'm just wondering what other multiple mommas did....

Just wanted to add they were born the day before their due date... and had peely hands... we thought my dates may have been a little off and they may have actually been postdates.

I just know that the research shows a  lot of negatives to their longterm health (esp. allergies) if before 6 months.  Just because there were 2 babies in there doesn't mean that they're going to develop differently than a singleton IMO.  We actually delayed solids until about 10 mo or so.  Babies shoving things in their mouths and "liking it" is a developmental stage at 4 mo and they would do it with a brick if given a chance.  Hold off just a bit longer!

I read the research, but chose to start solids with the twins at 4.5 months (or was it 5 months?).  We didn't start with cereal.  I started with avocado, sweet potato, etc.

No allergies on our end.  The twins are now 14 months, and continue to eat well.
