hi everyone, I just started taking Paxil, last night was my second dose,I'm on 20 mg. I know that there are common side effects, especially initially. I am super sensitive to any medication, though...and I take it at bedtime because I was worried about it making me sleepy or sick to my stomach.I'm concerned,though-because even after sleeping 8-9 hours after I take it,I'm still so tired and foggy headed through the day. I know the withdrawl from weaning off Paxil is hellacious,I've been reading about it.I wondered though if I took half a tab (10mg) instead,if that might help my feeling so out of it throughout the day? I guess what I'm asking is, after only having two doses,if I cut the dose tonight I won't already be running the risk of the horrific weaning withdrawl will I?

Paxil question...

You won't, but you might not be getting the benefit you would need from it. Â It's normal in the first 2 weeks or so (sometimes longer) to feel groggy from ssri medication. Â That will go away. Â IF you go down in dose, you could have some withdrawal, but its unlikely after only two doses.Â
Â
Do you want to be on Paxil? Â Is there another ssri that you would like to try? Â If you are already worried about withdrawal, maybe something like Prozac, which does not have as much of a reputation for being hard to get off it, would make you feel better? Â
Â
If you are just worried about the grogginess, I say stay at 20 and stick it out. Â It will go away. Â :)
