Turned DD Forward Facing temporarily...

I turned DD2 (almost 2 years old and 23 pounds) forward facing so that I could fit a third carseat in for my niece.  Today I went to turn her back around to rear facing and she is NOT having it, even with the DVD player.  So....I think I'm going to leave her FF, is that terrible? redface.gif  She is pretty tall (35.5 inches) so I think she just really likes having the ability to hang her legs down.

I just feel bad because I swore I would keep her RF to the seat limit, but a family tragedy happened and I HAD to fit another seat :-/

DD1 was FF for a few days on a family visit and got upset when we switched her back.  It was not negotiable and she got used to it again.  I think for safety, RF is so much better.  She would still prefer to FF, but really, she doesnt have a choice.

I'd keep her rearfacing, and just explain why she got to FF for that trip. Safety is not a compromise for me.

I wouldn't consider it at that age either.

There are a lot of choices my kids would like to make that I don't let them make. For example, we've had cake for breakfast once, but when they ask the next day, my answer is no. Why? Because I'm the parent. When it's a matter of safety it's definitely not up to them.

My ds is pushing 3 and 30 lbs and rf is non-negotiable.

I agree with everyone else, sometimes our kids aren't happy with the choices we make for them, but I'd rather have a mad kid than one with a broken neck. My 2 year old rode FFing a couple times last week when we were visiting grandma and for reasons like the OPs there wasn't another option. The first two days back home he was pretty ticked when we went to get in the car, but he's over it now. I give my kids TONS of choices throughout the day, but safety isn't one of them.

we had the same thing happen with jet.  we kept him rf for awhile longer even though he fought it so bad. we did end up turning him before we would have otherwise because of it.

we have 2 as our bare minimum goal for rf but i think if we got that close and it was that bad i would consider it.

I don't think it's terrible. I try to RF until age 2, but DD2 was turned a little sooner.

Sorry it took me so long to update this, but we did end up putting her back to rear facing
