Do you label everything? I can understand labeling extra clothing in case of accidents, and jackets...but I'm wondering beyond that how common it is to label stuff.

We don't... Her snowpants, mittens, coat, and backpack are labeled.

We label everything as per school rules (incl underwear and shoes). Still doesn't stop DS from coming home with other peoples stuff though. He came home with someone else's gown on Friday, it got washed along with his, and will be returned on Monday.

The school requires us to label coats, shoes, hat, mittens, neck warmers, boots, and I label hoodies and sweaters. about a month ago I noticed DS was missing a fleece vest but I thought DS put it somewhere when he was tidying for Christmas. Anyway about a week ago it was in his cubby so someone must have gone home with it but it was labeled so it came home :)

Ours ask that we label anything the kids are likely to take off, so hats, coats, sweaters etc.

I don't label his spare clothes, they are kept in a wet bag in his bag and only come out if needed.

The preschool do label their spare clothes, in the hopes of them actually making it back.

I teach Pre K and the best method for extra clothes that I have found is putting them in a bag and labeling it.  That way, you don't have a sock falling out of a cubby, etc.  It is hard to figure out what belongs to which child when nothing gets labeled.
