A Day in Keene with Little Kids?

We're looking to move either to VT or to the Keene area. We're looking in Keene based solely on what we're heard of the area and learned from on-line research - we've never been there. So, we'd like to take a day trip to check it out. We're about 2 hours away, so we'll probably be there from about 10am until late afternoon. We'd rather not wait until the snow melts to go, but we have a 2 year old and a 5 year old who need something to do other than walking around town talking to people. Any suggestions? I see there was a children's museum but it closed. What do you do in Keene in the winter? Thanks!

I used to live there and we loved it. :)

We spent a lot of time at the library-- it has a lovely children's room with toys and games, so that might be a way to spend a break. An outing to Stonewall Farm to visit the animals would probably also be a hit. Link to the farm: http://www.stonewallfarm.org/ . The farm is only a short drive from the main area of town.

A cookie at Kristen's  (http://www.cateringbykristins.com/) which is downtown and my children would consider the day perfect. :)

Thanks so much. I was looking at the library and they have a storytime Saturday mornings that we'll try to make it to. We're always up for a good cookie and love visiting farms. Sounds like a good plan.

We used to hit that storytime every Saturday-- it was an all-ages one which worked well for us.

I miss Keene a lot! It is a really nice community-- I hope you enjoy your visit.
