I thought about suggesting this as well.  It was what worked for us, although we had limited school choices available.  I would highly recommend pure homeschooling over a virtual school with other little ones around.  The virtual school can take a lot more time than a gifted youngster needs and/or a busy mom with lots of littles can handle without stressing out!

I prefer the charter over homeschooling. I've seriously looked into the concept of homeschooling, to the point where I was planning out what our days and weeks would look like and meeting with other HS moms. But I know that the charter will give her much more than I can provide.

I talked to DH, and I think we've come to a decision we're both happy with.

I just looked at the bell schedules and calculated what the driving times would be for drop off and pick up. With the charter school, it adds 40 minutes in the morning and an extra 25 minutes for pick up. That is over an hour of extra driving per day. And my twins, who will be 3, will be in the car for that whole ride. I should mention, my kids are not the "sit quietly in your seats and look out the window" kind of passengers. wink1.gif

The extra time for pick up also means that my twins will have to wait an extra half hour before getting home for lunch after preschool, and I'm sure they'll be starving. So I can imagine a lot of tired tantrums in the car as we drive around all the time.

I wish I could pick up the Charter school and move it close to my house to make the answer more obvious.

I'd probably go with the charter school, but I feel you on the weird scheduling. We've had that for the past 2 years because of my kids' ages & needs, and it's been generally miserable...lots of "too much time to wait in the car but not enough to do anything" time periods. I've tried to make myself feel better by reminding us often that it's a temporary situation.
