Best audio baby monitor- your recommendations please!

We HATE our baby monitor. It's a piece of junk and we need a new one!

We want one that doesn't cut in and out, but has continuous sound (is there such a thing?)- right now, ours clicks on and off with an annoying buzzing sound for every noise and the sounds that activate it are really indistinguishable. Basically, it just works to tell us there has been some kind of sound, we can't hear DS or tell what kind of noise he's making or if it is even him.

So I've been looking around and I'm totally lost! Analog? Digital? DECT?

We don't live in a huge place so it doesn't need to cover much distance, but we do have lots of nearby neighbours so possible interference. I'm not worried about anyone listening in either.

What monitor works for you? Which ones don't cut in and out?

Recommendations please.

Thanks!!!

I saw this in new posts and was going to come in and recommend the one we have but it does cut in and out like yours. That is what we love about it actually. We don't have tom listen to constant static. Have you tried turning the sensitivity down on yours?

I got rid of my analog monitor (junk) because it made continuous static noise and everybody else in the nieghborhood seemed to have the same one so we heard other people's babies.  I got a digital one by V Tech and I love it.  That said, it only kicks on if the baby makes noises or is crying.  You can set the sensitivity level and volume to where you want it, and when it does kick on, the sound is crystal clear with no static or interference.  My monitor came with two receivers so you can have one in the living room and one in your bedroom which is nice because you don't have to move the receiver around with you.

We have the VTech DECT one too.  We really like it a lot.  As the PP said, though, it does just kick in when there's a noise, but the sounds are definitely distinguishable.  We can hear what DS is saying over it.

Thanks---

So generally, digital are better than analog? No static and noise etc.?

I'm really not sure if there even exist monitors that don't cut in and out. It seems like it wouldn't be hard to make one that is a continuous feed though. I think they do make them though because I once heard a mom saying that she listens to her LO breathing on her monitor.

Any other recommendations?

They do exist.  My friends with older kids all have them and it is so annoying to listen to.  Actually my sister just bought a set that makes continuous static too.

And yes I think DECT  is what you would be looking for.  Which monitor do you have now?

We never had much  luck with out (used, possibly old) analogue monitor, though it was better than nothing when we were away form home.

The best thing we found was when we got new DECT phones, they had a babysitter setting on them. We put an extra handset in  DSs room  which was set to baby sit. Then when we wanted to use the monitor you rang the handset  in his room from whichever other handset. If we got an incomming call the phonewould still ring. The only issues were that you couldn't take the phone call and hear DS at the same time and we had to remember to redial the phone in his room when finishing a call. The reception was much better than our other monitor though,
