New Car Smell While Pregnant

So our lease was up and we are bringing home our new car today.  I just hate the fact that the new car smell is quite toxic but how bad is it to breathe in while pregnant.  I would drive with the windows open but it's cold here plus I have my 3 year old in the back seat most of the time and don't want to make him freeze (we don't put him in his car seat with a coat for safety reasons).

Any suggestions or reassurance?  At least it should be somewhat aired out by the time the new baby is in it...

I got pregnant 4 months after buying a new car and I was pretty paranoid about it, but DS turned out nice and healthy. One thing that may make you feel better is that the offgassing is worse the hotter it is outside, but then you can just drive around with the windows open to air it out. I would just open the windows whenever it's not too cold, even if it's just for a few minutes and try not to stress about it. :)

Just hung out in the car checking it out and such and the smell is not that strong.  Now that I think about it, we got a new car when DS was 7 months old and he is just fine as well!  Thankfully it's not too bad and cracking the windows while we drive is do-able I suppose...

Thanks!

I didn't realize the smell was possibly toxic!!??!?!?? We purchased a new car in September right before I found out that I was pregnant... after driving it a few times, I realized the new car smell was actually making me nauseous!! (The aversions to smells was what prompted me to take a preggo test).  I guess it's a good thing the smell bothered me so much because I couldn't stand to drive it much and really didn't start driving my new car until January!!

Do you have a garage? If so, perhaps park it in there as often as possible and leave all the windows open... I'm sure that would help air it out.

It's not too bad, thank goodness...but I do have a garage and will be airing it out just in case.

Thanks!
