Adding pink himalayan salt to kefir and kombucha?

I'm having a simultaneous love affair with pink himalayan salts and kefir/kombucha.  We have a berkey water purifier which removes pollutants and chlorine but retains the mineral content to the water, but I want to add more minerals to the water.  I was thinking of adding a pinch of himalayan salt, which is loaded with trace minerals.

Does anyone see a problem with this?  What other methods have you used to "punch up" your kombucha and kefir?  (btw I'm using water kefir, not dairy, right now)

Interesting question; you should give it a try and let us know what happens ;) On the one hand, kefir grains like minerals. On the other hand, salt is anti-bacterial and may damage your kefir culture. Probably a pinch would be fine, though.

But if you want to get more pink salt in your body, just cook with it and salt your food to taste :) Oh you can put a cup of pink salt in your bath, too. I get mine from the San Francisco Salt Company. I think I paid $45 shipped for 25 lbs of gourmet pink salt.

Thanks for the tip on where to get it -- that's significantly less than what I paid!

I'm scared to try it now cause I don't want to ruin my grains....at least until I have enough to experiment with!
