Breastfeeding in Bank of America-- or not so much....

Thread Starter

Today I was asked by the Senior Banking Specialist at the Bank of America in College Station, TX to stop nursing my week-old infant.  Her words were... "It's a beautiful thing and all.. but there are children in the room.... blash blah blah"

When I informed her that state law protects my right to breastfeed anywhere I'm allowed to be, she got uncomfortable that I knew the law and walked away.

Anyone have any other Breastfeeding unfriendly places to report?

I'm sorry this happened to you.

I don't get this comment.  I mean, so what?  Children are the least judgmental people on the planet.  Was she afraid the children might learn how a baby is fed?  headscratch.gif

I'm so sorry this happened to you momma!  To be honest, though, I'm still stuck on the one week old and you are out and about!  When little baby A was a week old I thought getting dressed and brushing my teeth was ambitious sometimes lol.gif

You got dressed?! dizzy.giflol.gif

I'm sorry this happened to you. Good for you for standing up for yourself, your baby, and the rights of bfing mamas! A week postpartum I think I would be a little to unstable to assert myself that way. Good for you!

Sometimes. I got called out for bfing DD when she was 6 weeks old in Zappos. Two little kids (maybe 6 & 8) went and got their mom and while she was chewing me out about "exposing myself to her children" one of them was sticking her finger  down her throat to insinuate that I made her want to vomit. All depends on what they learn from their peers and parents I guess....

I would have said something very inappropriate to both those little children and the mother. Then again I get very very confrontational if anyone even whispers a negative thing to me about my NIP.

In hindsight, I wish Id said a lot more. I was a brand new mom who was in a big hurry and needed shoes! I could see my feet for the first time in months and I was in desperate need of some rain boots and sandals since my feet grew while I was pg. I told her that it was my legal right and that there was no difference in me nursing my kid and her giving hers a bottle. I didnt say anything to her kids though. I feel sorry for them.
