Next step!

My husband and I have been co-sleeping with our baby girl for six months, enjoyed it very much until recently. Our little one has just learnt to crawl and she will wake up (almost every two hours) and the first thing she does is sit up and start crawling all over us. If I dont catch her quick enough ( Breastfeed her until sleepy and then she falls back again on her own) she will remain awake and very alert for a couple of hours and want to play.

Needless to say this has made for a tired mama and papa and I always said to myself that when I am no longer functional (which was the case for about a week) I would change things.

So our little love is now in the pack n' play beside the bed.

Any advice on how to make this transition smoother and how to help her stay asleep longer.

PS...sorry i didnt use "DS" or anything like that but I don't know what it means.   :)

Well, I am guessing that this is just a phase because crawling is a new skill for her and she wants to practice it!  I have heard many moms talk about new milestones (like pulling up, crawling, or walking) that the little ones will wake in the middle of the night and want to practice their new skill. :)  So I'm hoping that this won't last too long for you!

Something I have just learned about is sidecarring a crib to the bed, to where there are 3 sides and the 4th side is open to the bed.  This may work better for her than having a pack n play on the floor because you could still nurse her laying down but she would have her own space.  Here is a good site on that: http://www.freewebs.com/sidecarcrib/ .  But you will just have to experiment with what will work best for your whole family.

Oh, and here's what some of those abbreviations mean: :)

DH- dear husband

DS- dear son

DH- dear daughter
