I am SO upset! I had some chicken stock on the stove cooling and I forgot to put it away before bed. I have to toss it, right? Reboiling won't be enough to save it, will it? I am just so sad to loos such a lovely pot of nourishing stock.

Yup, me too. Just overnight out equals A-ok in our house! Everyone has different levels of resistance to stuff, I guess, but I couldn't imagine it being a problem after what really is a very short time - people used to hang their meat for weeks to "ripen", and they did just fine (somehow). This is so much of a shorter time, and so much a part of our family's normal practice, that I wouldn't worry a bit.

Food poisoning can be produced by heat-stable bacterial toxins. I'd pitch it. No way for kids, even one wants to freeze in small batches and trial it on oneself.
Well, I pitched it. It had cooled enough by the time I went to bed that i could have put it away but I forgot. If I had turned the heat off under it right before bed I might have saved it. It was mostly for DD who we are starting on the GAPS diet. Her body isn't very strong right now so I didn't want to push it.
