I'm using those Instead Cups, and I like them. Heavy for me is clots and heavy flow. Medium is like more than just there when wiping, but not heavy. LOL

I used the instead cups for the first time for O (to keep spermies closer to my stupid cervix) this time... I must say, I was highly impressed. I have a tipped cervix so I thought they would be uncomfortable (I can't even wear tampons because I always feel them) and was I ever impressed! We only used 3 of them so I still have most of the box to use for AF and I'm excited to try them for it. Although, of course, I would rather NOT have to use them but let's be realistic here... I'm going to. How do they do with a heavier flow?

Really? They never worked for me. I leaked around them. blush.gif But I have had two vaginal births.

Attached2Elijah, sometimes they leak when you urinate on the heavier days. But that doesn't bother me, as I rinse it out every time I use the restroom. Well, amost every time, that's not possible in public restrooms, so I sort of let it leak some out, then tuck it back up into place. I've never had it leak any other time, only when squatting and bearing down on it. I also like that you barely know it's there!

I'm cheap, so I use a new cup for TTC (when I use it, I don't always),  clean it in between BDs and after ovulation is over clean it especially well and store it in a ziploc, use the same cup for AF (rinsing at every bathroom visit), then throw it away after AF is over. This way I am only using one cup per cycle. This process makes the Instead Cups very affordable.

I never tried Instead cups for AF, but I do use a Diva Cup and love it.  For those who have leakage issues, you may want to give that a try.  Of course, for conceiving purposes, it's not designed the same way and wouldn't put the semen up close to the cervix like the Instead cups do.  Also with the Diva Cup, there are 2 sizes so it's easier to get a good fit.  I highly recommend them!

I thought about trying the diva cup but does it fit the same way, with the ring going basically behind the cervix? I think that's why the ICs work so well for me. Because of the way my cervix is tipped, it keeps most everything down lower in my vagina but with the IC, it "circles" my cervix so it's sort of behind it and higher up (if that makes sense) so I don't feel it at ALL...When I take it out, (TMI, I'm sure) I hear/feel a little "pop" from where it pulls my cervix and has to move it a bit to get free. The Diva Cup looks like it fits lower and basically catches what flows down... am I mistaken in that? If I am, I might just try one. :)

(Of course, I'd rather not have to use either one for quite some time, lol)

Sourire - I just wanted to pop in to say that I'm glad you are going to be seeing a doctor about your spotting!  I was right there with you for a while (with my spotting starting between 7-10 dpo, usually), so I know how frustrating it can be, especially when your medical providers don't take you seriously or offer stupid suggestions (i.e. BC - come on, doc).  Are you going to be seeing a different doctor that you have been seeing?  It took my three tries to find the right doctor (all within the same practice), but once I found him, it truly helped.  I wish you the best of luck!

Also, just wanted to chime in on the Instead Cup conversation - they are AWESOME!  I got them originally for TTC purposes, but did try them for their intended purposes.  I usually only used them on my lighter days, so no leaking.

Thanks for the encouragement Val! I will be seeing a new doctor at the fertility clinic, I hope its someone good!

Re: instead cups... I have never tried them but I do have a Diva cup which I use on occasion. The diva cup does sit below the cervix and kind of suctions around the walls of your vagina. According to my sisters who have normal periods and who both have Diva cups, there is no leakage when you put it in properly (which can take a bit of fiddling around)... personally they don't work super well for me because when my flow is heavy there is always some leakage and I have to wear a pad anyways, and also because of the way they fit they somehow put pressure against my internal organs and when I have cramps this tends to make them worse (but when I don't have cramps they are comfortable). I do know that my sisters absolutely love the Diva cup for AF and you can use the same one for years so you save a lot of money. However I don't think it would be any use for BDing because it wouldn't keep the sperm very close the the cervix.

Sourire - Good luck with the doc.  That much bleeding and that short of a luteal phase isn't helpful for TTC IMO.  In the end they'll likely recommend progesterone.

talktomenow and Gemime - I'm 6 dpo now.  When are you guys going to test?  Unfortunately, (fortunately?) my cycles are very predictable.  If my temps drop tomorrow, it's a bad sign, if they drop further on friday, I'll know I'm out and won't test.  (My temps will recover a little for a couple days and then drop for good and af will show if we were unsuccessful this month.  Since :) we were successful this month :) my temps will stay mostly high!)  When my temps stay high :)  I'll test on Friday or Saturday.

I don't mind testing early.  I'm ok with getting negatives and a dollar a shot from the dollar store, they're worth my peace of mind.

ETA to add Gemime!  :)

Xerxella, I think it's Gemmime (sp?) that's in the same place as we are. I'm 7dpo. I really don't want to test at all until AF is due, which would be Monday. The negatives really get me down. I get more and more depressed with each one, and then stay depressed until day 2 of AF. Which is way too long to be sad!! So I'm going to try to hold out! It probably won't work, though. :) I'll be waiting for your results!

So, the first three months I was noting every symptom and stressing. Now, I've entered a new phase! Ha! I'm not paying attention! One thing I've learned is that I have a lot of post-O stuff that goes on when I'm not pg. Just hormonal stuff, I guess. This month, I'm not paying attention and I actually feel great. No weird symptoms. Cooool.

You are correct about it sitting lower than than the Instead cups.  As Sourire said, it circles around the inside of the vaginal walls and collects the flow as it comes out.  I have a tilted uterus and it doesn't bother me at all.  Of course, I haven't have a vaginal birth yet so I'm still using size 1 (which may be smaller?).  I also hear a "pop" when I take out my Diva, but it's super easy to get out because you pinch the sides of it together and it lets go a bit.  I'm sure they have illustrations and such on their website if you want to check it out.  I'm so glad I made the switch... it's been a lot cheaper than buying tampons so far.  And yes, I hope you don't have to use one for AT LEAST 9 months!  winky.gif

That would be awesome! It's going to be rough reading about you guys testing when it's still too soon for me :D Poor SO is going to have a lot to put up with!

We just got home and NO CAVITIES! So far, the kids have never had one... I hope this trend continues!

Yay for cycle buddies! My LP is 15 days long so I don't plan on testing until AF is due. The ONLY exception is if I see something funky (like an extreme possible implantation dip then temp skyrocket) with my temps. Right now they're on a slow increase so I'm just coasting along. From my chart it looks like we only got in 1 BD in the right time period so I'm not getting my hopes up too high. Off to chartstalk you all!

TalkToMeNow: I know 4DPO is really early but it looks like a possible implantation dip on your chart? I see the open circle though, so not sure if you're discarding it?
