Dear 16 Bean Soup Mix - I love you!

Got the idea for DS (18mos) to use a container of dried beans for sensory play.  Plunked down a whopping $1.69 for the 16 bean soup mix at the market yesterday.  So far DS has been playing for a record 17 minutes with them! 

I poured about 1.5 cups into a small, clear tupperware container and gave him a spoon.  He's been at this high chair like a little scientist: examining all the different types of beans, taking them out one by one, taking them out with the spoon, stirring them and he did try and lick one.  I plan on staying close by while he plays so I can moniter for safety, but wow, these are great!

You have inspired me.  I will have to pick some up.  DD has always liked playing with real food suffs (cereal, dried fruits, seeds) in her play kitchen.  It might be nice to have a few beens in some of her pots and bowls.  Toddlers are all about the pouring, huh?
