I researched a lot and went for the 'Dreamer Design' brand.  I have a fixed wheel and It has been AMAZING.  I take it on trails that I people think I am crazy for.  Plus it is huge, says it will hold a child up to 80 pounds.

I adore my BOBs, I have a single and a double. There are everywhere in my area as well because everyone is so active. I like having the option to fix my wheel or not depending on what I am doing.

Actually, if I knew of the option to have both fixed wheel and swivel wheel in the same stroller I would have gone for that.  My stroller is a pain to use 'in the city' because of the fixed wheel.

Hi mama,

I just bought one a Schwinn Single. It really depends on as a PP stated where you live and exactly what you want it for. Running? A lot of running?

Before even picking a brand if you are going to use it a lot for serious running you would want a fixed wheel because even the ones that you can rotate then lock the wheel in place will jiggle more than a fixed wheel.

That was our biggie. We wanted the smoothest ride possible for daily running, think over 2 miles. So we got fixed wheel.

Next as far as brands go I know everyone loves their BOBs but DH and I didn't want to spend that kind of money. The Schwinn models are really reasonably priced. We love the one we picked out and it received great reviews overall. Check any model out online and read through owner reviews.

If you can really splurge BOBs are great, otherwise I'd pick any Schwinn model, we have had ours for a couple weeks and absolutely love it!

I love our BOB but it's not perfect.  I hate the parking brake--it's completely ineffectual. But I love how it rides, and I love how it folds up compactly.  I would recommend the fixed wheel.  I have no problem pushing it on our town's sidewalks.  I also have a cheapo double jogger with a swivel wheel, and I end up just keeping the wheel fixed, because when it swivels it gets caught in potholes, train tracks, etc.

I picked up a used Baby Jogger for $70 on craigslist, and love it.  I am actually on my second one, since we moved and it was easier to sell the old one and buy another used one.  I have done lots of 5K's with mine, including trail runs, and it breaks down really easily to fit in the trunk of a car (we have a Toyota Corolla and it fits well).  It is a bit large for grocery stores..., though we still bring it into stores on occasion.  If you do buy one used, look for one with a folding hood.  My first had one, but my current one has a hood that doesn't fold.

If you really want to run, the Baby Jogger is awesome. I had a Bob first and there was no comparison. The Baby Jogger was so much smoother and easier to handle and turn while runnng. However, this was ten years ago, both brands could have changed. The Baby Jogger was not convenient for compact storage or towns, it was very long.

I love our Baby Jogger.  It handles like a dream, has a combined seat weight limit of 100 lbs (I have the double).  The sun shades are amazing, the parking brake is great-- love everything about it.
