newly dx'd bipolar II--more children?

Hey all, 

Like the title says, I was recently dx'd Bipolar II after a major depressive episode. Not sure if I was always bipolar or if it's a recent development, but right now I'm taking Lexapro and Adderall; I have to get an EKG and bloods done before I start lithium.

I'm kinda bummed out about everything right now. We have two sons, twins, who both have special needs. I'd like to have another baby, but we've always had trouble conceiving (twins were from IUI) and now with the meds, that'd be hard. My husband suggests adoption, but will "they" let me adopt if I'm bipolar?

I can't speak to the adoption side of it, although my mother has mental health concerns (including being a recovering alcholic) and she was able to adopt.

I am Bipolar as well, and we have no plans to halt our family growth because of it.  There are some meds that are safe to take during pregnancy and bfing, some that I can take after the first trimester, ect.
