Thirsties duo wraps and stay dry inserts

Does anyone have any experience with thirsties duo wraps and the stay dry duo inserts? I am new to cloth and am considering these. I've read that the hook and loop option works better with holding the inserts in place-but since the inserts aren't fastened at all to the cover, wouldn't it just shift? Also, would the baby's skin be exposed to the pul in the cover if using the inserts? How many covers/inserts would I need for a 2 month old infant? Thanks for any suggestions!

I haven't used the duo inserts (didn't even know there was such a thing!) but I have used the Flip system, which I assume is similar.

The answer for us was that they didn't shift much, but that yes, the PUL does get exposed, and if the inserts are like the Flip inserts (stay-dry on top and microfibre underneath), on occasion the inserts curled when wet and the wet fibre was against DS' skin.

I find that prefolds and Bummis wraps with a fleece liner on top work better, but I expect it all depends on the baby.

I second what the pp said.  I have experience with the flip system, and have some thirsties duo covers (which I LOVE) but not the thristies stay-dry liners.  the flip system doesn't seem to shift on my ds, but I do snap those suckers on pretty snugly. :)  i just don't love the concept of the flat stay-dry liner down the middle for poops- it goes everywhere.  i like with prefolds and covers that sometimes he can poop and i still have a clean cover b/c the prefold holds it all inside.  and I also like with prefolds how there is mostly cotton touching his skin, not PUL.  the pul fabric does touch his skin when he is wearing the flip system, even if the diaper isn't wet yet.  so my recommendation would be to try prefolds and covers.  much cheaper too!

We use the duo wraps, but not the inserts. I love the covers. Really reasonable, too, for starting out. You'd probably need 6-8 covers, depending on how often you wash. We have 4 in rotation for 17 month old DS and I really could use one more, so I think you'd need one or two more for a younger baby.

The flips didn't work for DS... he always had poop blowouts in them. The thought of them is nice, since it's just one diaper from birth to potty, while the thristies is two, but I still like thirsties better.

You could do a duo wrap with a prefold/snappi... we do flats with snappi and there's no shifting.
