come kind of infection - it hurts!

I had a yeast breast infection while nursing my last child now I have some kind of infection again. This time it's different. It started with deep soreness two days ago then pain while nursing now pain all the time and makes-me-want-to-cry pain while nursing. Now half of one of my areolas is inflamed, very tender, but has not changed in color. It's beyond painful to nurse or even try to pump on that side but when it's too full it hurts too.

The baby is my fourth and is almost 6 months old so I know what is normal and what it not. I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday for something unrelated and I really doubt I could get in before that so I was hoping to get a bit of advice on what to do until then.

I have a full prescription of amoxocillin (left over from when I had a cold, was given the antibiotic, and decided to fill it just in case I might need it sometime I wasn't able to get into the doctor quickly). I also have nystatin infant liquid, athlete's food ointment, and all kinds of other over the counter things like tylenol. I have tea tree oil but no other 'alternative' type things, I live in a rural area and any herbs or the like have to be ordered.

Any thoughts on if it's yeast or not and what to do about it??

Thank you

I'm not sure.

In my experience, yeast issues are usually nipple-related pains.  Deep breast pain and inflammation is more likely to be mastitis, I think.  I could be wrong, though.  I've only had mastitis once.  Thrush lots of times.

You could have yeast.  I find that the deeper yeast goes into the body, the more different the thrush symptoms are.  Perhaps you can just drink some echinacae tea with an immune system boosting herbal tincture added several times a day.  Regardless of what your issue is, your immune system needs a boost.

Hope the doctor was able to help today!

Thanks, I went to the doctor today. The swelling and pain have gotten much better but there is a hard lump about the size of a small marble now. It's very, very similar to a clogged duct I had a few years ago so we're assuming that's what it is.
