Ds (14 months) has had a horrible sounding cough for the last few days. He had a similar cold a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was gone but now his cough and congetstion has started up again. I don't think he had a chance to get totally well before he got hit again.Â
The congestion is all stuck back in his sinus and going down his throat and I think is what is causing most of the coughing. He has had a few spells of coughing pretty hard. But the frustrating thing is that if he has a coughing spell (even mild) right after he nurses or within 10 minutes of nursing, he throws it all back up. He's always seemed to have a pretty strong gag relex and I think this is what is usually happening. Although last night he had a pretty strong coughing fit that made him throw up more than milk.

We're using a vaporizer, saline spray and I'm trying to get him to drink some water from a sippy. He hasn't really been interested in a sippy cup yet and so I even put a small amount of juice with the water to get him to drink more. He's pretty happy during the day and still playful......it's just the throwing up is getting really old and not helping him stay hydrated at all. I think if I could get the mucous to thin out maybe it would go down his throat easier. I sure wish it would just come out his nose. The nose sucker is no help at all here.

Any ideas would be appreciated!! Poor little guy I hate to see him feeling so bad!
