I'm not usually one to complain about change, but..

this new MDC interface is kinda hard to navigate. I haven't been on MDC much since the changeover, but I don't really feel like coming here sometimes because of it. I've been a member since 2003, so I've seen it go through a lot.. anyways, am I the only one who finds it difficult? or am I just getting old and set in my ways? :P

like where do I find "new posts"? gone?

so i found the new posts. but i notice my "friends" list is gone. :(

Hi, yes, unfortunately, our old friends lists were lost in the transition, but the software team has said they are working to develop an enhanced friends feature to be rolled out at a later date. Currently, there's a Follow feature that's also slated to be upgraded as time goes along to better suite the community's needs.

thanks :)

does anyone else think the 'follow' feature feels a bit...stalkerish? redface.gif

I won't disagree, but we're about to have a bunch of enhancements to this feature that I think will be well-received. Members will have much more control as far as their following options :)

I am not usually that adverse to change but this one is hard for me to get used to as well.  I find that I will go days without visiting MDC because I don't want to deal with the things that I don't like about the new format.

I love MDC and rely on it quite a bit as the people I know IRL tend to have very dfferent philosophies.  Unfortunately, this new format is still very difficult for me to navigate.  It takes me forever to do what I want to do here and it is frustrating.  I keep trying to be patient as the admins have promised cool new stuff.

Just wanted to say no, you're not the only one who doesn't like the new format. I come back because I like the content but I'm afraid all the "cool new features" are rather lost on me. Perhaps because I only use a computer and not an iphone shrug.gif Anyway, I'll stay around but, yeah, it's all left me a bit cold I'm afraid.

I agree.

I dont like it because it takes forever to load for me. I use firefox (not sure that matters) and never had problems in the past. Its extremely slow for me and I dont like to come here much because of it too.  Also had many problems leaving posts. Once I begin writing I cannot edit at all. I have to open notepad, and copyand paste what I want to say.  Cant backspace or delete anything etc.  Definitely old way was better for me.

I very much agree with PPs. The new site takes forever to load, it does strange things, like it's hard to quote posts, sometimes if you read a whole thread and are typing in the reply box the page will finish loading and jump to the top, or a random post. Sometimes it won't let you edit a post, like if you spell something wrong, or whatever, you can't go back, which when you have typing helpers, you need to be able to do! :)

I do like the "like" button and the avatars. But that's about it.

I turned the avatars off and it loads much faster.

I still don't like the new format. I hate when I try to reply and it won't let me. I just get frustrated and leave a lot.

I agree that much of the new stuff/features kinda suck. I view MDC at my desk.. I don't have a smart phone... so I must be missing what great about all the new changes.

likewise. i rarely take the time to post because it is a giant hassle and frequently unsuccessful. pages just get 'stuck' and i have to close the entire page and start all over...

I agree about it taking forever to load, and not being able to reply and it doing strange things when you are trying to reply. It's made it so I just don't even bother replying much of the time.

Is it possible to get some feedback on the issues people are expressing here?

Slow loading varies from person to person which we've found with our own internal speed testing. We have asked for optimizations to try to improve page loading for everyone.

Not liking the features - I can't really address that. It's a pretty general statement. I do think that after being on the vBulletin platform for 9 years it is certainly a big change for all of us. We expected there to be some disappointment with the changes and different functioning. But vBulletin became what it did only with user feedback and development over time. That's what we're doing now with our new platform - giving our feedback and suggestions and requests for development. It just takes time and there are always bugs in the process, just as there are with other platforms and their development.

Problems with features - you have to submit an individual report of the problem(s) you're experiencing using this as an outline for your post.

Don't understand how or find it difficult to use features - we can help with that but it requires an individual post of request, explaining exactly what you're having trouble with. It may be that you don't understand how to use the feature or maybe to doesn't work as you'd like or as you might expect it to. Whatever the case, we'll tak a look and see what we can do to help. smile.gif
