Low supply on one breast

I know there probably won't be enough information for you guys to give me much detailed help, but this isn't an issue I had ever encountered as a doula.

My fiance went over to a friend's house tonight and his girlfriend just had a baby about 3-4 weeks ago. She told DF that she felt like she wasn't producing as much milk in one breast. He said he did see her have the baby feed on alternate breasts while he was there -- not timed, but two different instances.

What could cause low supply in one breast if mom is allowing baby to feed on both breasts alternately?

If it matters any, mom has two other kids -- a 12 year old and a 6 year old. We assume she breastfed both of them, but I haven't been able to sit with her and gather any BFing history.

TIA.

This is completely normal, in my experience. Many moms have a breast that produces more than the other. It is not an issue in most cases, as the other breast picks up the slack.

Is she worried about her supply?
