raw liver- cut into "pill size", freeze, and swallow?

Hi folks,

 

I've been reading about the benefits of liver consumption, and even raw meat consumption, but just can't get my tastebuds around it (yet).

I have some organic, pasture-fed chicken liver in my freezer (I get all our meat from a local farmer, but it is all frozen, not fresh, most of the year). Would it be OK to thaw the liver, cut it into pill-sized bits, freeze it again (spread on a cookie sheet so they don't stick together), and them take them like a supplement (re-frozen, raw)? The reason that I ask is because of the old "don't re-freeze" rule, coupled with the raw factor, you know what I mean? I would be comfortable with either consuming it raw (from fresh or frozen), or consuming it cooked (from thawed and re-frozen), but wasn't sure about the whole raw AND re-frozen combo, so I thought I would ask for your insight.

you don't need to thaw it, just cut it up while frozen ir partially frozen.

I think the "don't re-freeze" advice is based on the assumption that, after you thaw your meat, it may be a day or two before you cook it.  And if you use up your non-frozen time, re-freeze, and then thaw again and wait before cooking, you can have food safety issues because of the total time un-frozen.  Maybe I'm wrong on this, but I thought that was the concern, so if you're deliberate in how much time you let your liver be un-frozen, you should be fine. 

 

I have to thaw my beef liver to cut it, it's just too thick to get a knife through, so (when I don't slack on it) I thaw (I get my liver frozen too), chop and freeze separately, and then put it into reasonable sized portions.

I have had great luck mincing up organ meat and using it when ever I use ground meat; meat loaf, burgers.... It adds all the benefits and no one in my family can taste the difference.

When you swallow raw do you burp it up?  Even just the smell of it makes me what to throw up :(  I really wish I loved it especially being pregnant it's such a superfood!

I take frozen liver "pills" all the time and I have never burped them up and when you swallow them they don't taste because they are frozen.  I always cut mine up while still frozen it's much easier and less messy that way.

how many "pills" do you all take and what size are they? I'm just wondering how much you  have to take that way to really get any health benefit from it? thanks :)
