Just trying to see if anyone else's toddler is the same way and if I should be trying to make changes to his schedule. He turned 2 in December, and we are due with number 2 in May. His nap schedule is so out of whack! He doesn't take a nap every day and when he does, it's either passing out in the car at 5 pm, or randomly he'll nap at a normal time, like between 1 and 2. If we aren't in the car between 3 and 5, he usually won't nap. I try to put him in his bed between 1 and 2 every day for quiet time even if he doesn't nap, and he will talk to himself, play, etc, but not sleep. But then, by 5 he's a grouch. Should I just try and put him to bed when he's tired or try and put him down for a nap at 4 pm? The other day he fell asleep in the car at 5, and slept till 7, but then went back down at 9:30 and slept until 7:00 the next morning. This seems so off and unnatural though. Doesn't matter when he goes to bed, he's up at 7 or 7:30, but I've noticed if he's in bed earlier, like between 8 and 9, he gets more sleep at night and usually will nap. I just can't seem to get him back on that schedule. Any tips? Did your kid give up naps by this age or just go through a phase where they needed naps one day at not the other, constantly changing their bedtime?
