Insurance/Liability Question

Thread Starter

I was wondering if you know where I could find out what type (if any) insurance or anything I would need if I were to sell homemade laundry or dish soap, room deodorziers and the like. I would like to sell things like that, but I'm not looking to quit my day job for it; just a hobby/ craft show/etsy thing. Any tips at all would be appreciated. Thank you!

Start by calling your regular insurance agent (whoever you use for home/life/car insurance) and ask if they insure businesses.  Many of the large companies insure everything.  They will ask you a bunch of questions to get your business classified and then they can get you a quote.

You'll likely have general liability already, but you may even want some product liability.  This would help protect you from any damages that the products you make might cause.  I don't know how "risky" your products in particular are, but I'm sure an agent could help you out.
