So. My rather neglected milk kefir has now developed a very weird flavor.

Several days ago I poured off the kefir that had been sitting in the jar for longer than I care to think about. It was good and sour (although I did wonder if it had a strange aftertaste). Then I filled the jar with fresh milk. It cultured slowly, due to the cold temps here lately.

Today I saw that the milk was well curdled with pockets of whey. Looked normal. I tasted it and it's not very sour at all. Actually has a weird off-flavor reminiscent of clorox bleach.
