thowing up but fine?

Does anyone have a kid who throws up occasionally but otherwise seems fine.  My daughter vomited this morning but doesn't seem sick. I don't get it. What are your experiences with this? She's been sick 2 other times and vomited but this time she doesn't even have a cold.

actually she is sneezing but doesn't have a runny nose. not sure if that is relevant...

what happened is she ate a bit  of oatmeal and about 3 minutes later she threw up.  since then she has had some fruit and milk and seems fine

That happens to my five year old on occasion. I"ve never figured it out! He pukes all morning, but usually by mid-morning he's fine, back to his usual self. My mom thought maybe it was dehydration?

Applecider have you looked at cyclic vomiting syndrome. In our case it ended up being cyclic vomiting syndrome/migraines. My daughter would wake up vomiting. Vomit frequently all morning and them be completely fine. Other than the vomiting there was nothing wrong with her (well eventually she added the migraine/headache part).

Snadaska, if it's not a recurrent thing I would just assume that something irritated her stomach and not worry too much about it.

That happened to my 22 month old last week! He puked several times that morning and then was totally okay....it was really weird.

Yes, but usually it's in the car (he sometimes gets carsick) although it's happened just at home as well. I always assume it's just 'leftover' from his constant puking for his first ~9mos (he used to puke massive amounts multiple times an hour...)

Same thing here. DD will occasionally wake up around 1 or 2 am, throw up two or three times, go back to sleep, and be totally fine the next day. Might happen every 2 or 3 months, seldom more frequently than that.  I've tried to identify an irritant or cause--something she eats or does right before this--but nada. I've entertained the thought of random viruses, but the timing and lack of other symptoms seems a little off. shrug.gif

DH and I actually have the whole routine down. He comes bursting in (sleeps in another room), strips the bed, remakes it, and puts down some towels while I get in the tub with DD. Then we go back, ready for a repeat, this time with basins/towels at the ready! We can do it on autopilot!

My daughter sometimes vomits at night at bedtime while nursing to sleep which has been happening for at least a year. There are definite triggers that took me a long time to figure out. She can't go to sleep too soon after eating dinner, if I get engorged, if it is very late, if we are out of town (this one is weird but she throws up almost every night when we fly out of town), and I am sure there are a few others I haven't figured out.

My little brother also sometimes throws up randomly and I don't think it is that unusual for kids if it only happens once in a while. If they don't seem to be in pain or dry heaving afterwards I wouldn't worry much. Was she running around a lot? DD also throws up if she spins around too much.

I don't think the throwing up if your flying is too weird. Even as an adult I get queasy on any flight over an hour and it extends (mildly) for a good 24-48 hours after the fly time.

Ds has had a couple of times over the last 6 months where this happened and I would have been perplexed but then I got the same stomach bug......very mild for me and made me slightly queasy. I wouldn't have even thought I was sick and blamed it on pms or being dehydrated if it weren't for him vomiting too.
