Mercury toxicity.

If you or your children could take a test to determine your individual susceptibility to mercury toxicity, in particular in areas of neurobehavioural (attention, memory, verbal and mood ) would you? thank you for any insights or thoughts.

Would it be a scientifically valid test, or would it just be something someone made up?

Are you asking if a scientifically valid test like this was avaliable would you do it?

If so then yes, of course. I would think any information one could have about their susceptibility to any neurotoxin would be useful info.

A friend of mine ( scientist from UCLA ) is working with some collegues to develop this test. It should be available sometime next year. It is a genetic test that would test very specifically the susceptibility to mercury. (some 25% of us are extremely susceptible).  I was just curious to find out if this would be a test that would be of interest to people and if so who. Being a mom myself, I though I would ask here.

yes if it was affordable.  I love fish but every time I eat it I think, oh I wonder how much mercury Im getting this time?!  (and for my son) ... would be a good test to have as maybe the results would change how some people eat or live.
