Limo/car company is providing a toddler seat made in 1994!

This is just a WTF?! rant to people who I know will understand...my FIL has arranged for a car service to pick me and my two kids up at the airport when we arrive on Sunday for a 3-week visit. I'm bringing our infant seat but was hoping to avoid bringing the convertible as there is a brand new one waiting for us at my IL's, however getting from the airport to their house is an issue (they can't pick us up because they don't drive after dark). My FIL found a car service that provides child seats but they leave installation up the parents. Not ideal for me to have to do something like that on the spot late at night and travel-weary but I think I can manage it. I call them to find out make & model of the seat so I can read the instruction manual online in advance to prepare for the install. He tells me it's an Evenflo Premier and the sticker says "manufactured in 1994." My jaw hit the floor as you can imagine. I politely declined the seat and advised them to replace it, later I sent them the link to the Transport Canada page on car seat expirations.

Thank goodness I asked! So I will take my toddler's Radian with us after all, which I know is better anyhow as then he can be harnessed on the plane. But 1994...holy moly!

Yikes, I'm glad you asked instead of finding out the hard way!

Taxis up here provide car seats if requested.  I was trying to get a couple and their brand new baby a taxi from the hospital to the airport to catch the one flight of the day home to their village...they were running late to begin with and the first taxi had a backless booster, for a two-day old infant.  The second taxi had a bouncy seat.  Not a car seat, a bouncy seat.  The third taxi had a seat that had expired five years prior, but that's what the baby ended up being sent out in.  I cringe to think of how many people have been riding around in taxis in the snow and ice here with those unsafe seats (or bouncy seat).
