Bunk beds for PDD-NOS son?

DH and I have been thinking about putting bunk beds in our boys' room. They're room is small and we thought putting bunk beds in there (with guard rails on both beds), would be a good space saver. Plus Jack may like it..being that he's a climber by nature.

You could choose a set that can be split into separate beds in case the stacking doesn't work out.

Thanks, Emmeline II. Do you think having him on the top bunk could cause some anxiety?

My 3 1/2  yo with Asperger's has a loft bed and he loves it. The height never bothered him, but each kid is different. Does he like high places, like play structures at the park etc? Also, do you have to worry about him jumping off the top of it, or do you think he will he stay put?

As a pp said, is he normally afraid of being up high or is he a climber? My ds was climbing the kitchen cabinets at 17mo, the top of our playgym at 4yo, and had no problems with a bunkbed.

My ASD dd could never handle the top bunk. We had bunk beds for awhile because of space, and her sister sister had the top and she had the bottom. It was really obvious in the store when we went to look at them that she just wasn't a top bunk kinda kid. It was never a fuzzy area. I think you can tell from your own child's reaction to seeing bunk beds.

He's defiantly a climber.
