Question about giving MT as a gift to someone

Hi, I wanted to give a MT as a gift to my husband (his birthday is coming up) and I had a few questions about that.

First do I need to get his measurements or weight or both?

Also if I get him one will I be able to use it too?

Thanks in Advance

No, you don't really need his measurements or weight to fit a mei tai.  A general size/clothing size should be fine.  Mei tais fit a large variety of people.  Many mei tais offer either standard or extra long straps.  If your husband is bigger then a men's "medium" and/or you are over a women's US size 10/12 then I would suggest a mei tai with extra long straps, as it gives you more variations on how you can tie the shoulder straps.  A mei tai with standard straps will still fit sizes larger then that, but you'll only be able to tie the shoulder straps in the front.

Hope that helps. smile.gif

Thanks Clovergirl it really helped. Just one more question (sorry I'm still so new at this) whether I get the MT with long or short straps, can we do both a front and back carry? I guess I should add my ds is three months old.

Yes, you will be able to do both a front and back carry.  It's not so much "short" straps as just the regular, standard length.  Usually extra long straps is an additional 6-12" (depending on the brand) tacked on to each shoulder strap.  Again, if you are over a woman's size 10/12 then the extra long straps will allow for a few more options tying the shoulder straps in a back carry then you would have with the standard length.
