Is that the right word? Those little awesome faces and oictures such as :hug whatever that express all kinds of emotions- are those still available on mdc? if not, will they be at some point?

Hi, they are still here....it's just a bit different now. When you're in the editor, look for the  smilie face icon at the top: 

Click it and you'll get a pop-up box filled with MDC smilies. The main difference is now that each time you want to place a smilie, you'll need to open up the smilie box and select your smilie. Hopefully, this feature will be enhanced in the future, but for now, it's what we have to work with.

Those of us over on the TTC boards really would like sperm and egg icons! That's what we spend a lot of time talking about, so naturally that would come up.

There is this one, but since the end result isn't always a baby, it doesn't cover it...

You can submit smilies for consideration. Just post them here, along with any necessary permission from the website or designer you got them from.
