latex allergy? DS reacting to waistband of underwear!!

My son has a mild to moderate IgE allergy to avacadoes, so I've been warned about possible latex as well. I have noticed that when he wears regular underwear with an elastic waist band he breaks out in a rash right where the waist band hits him in the front (but he never has it on the back). I know it rubs more in the front than int he back though since it's right where he bends, etc. Anyways....I put him back in his gerber training pants for a couple days adn the rash went away....babysitter put him in regular undies yesterday and last night he had a rash again. Sooooo....shoud I suspect a possible latex allergy?

Where in the world can I find underwear that are latex free or have ccompletely covered elastic? He's 2 years old.

edit to add: He seems to do okay as long as the elastic is completely covered in cloth....but he's reacted to briefs from JCPenny, and under-roos types of underwear (not sure of the brand).

Thanks,

Valerie

Not sure of where you can find those, but if you have sewing skills, or can barter for sewing skills, you can roll the waist band over into the fabric OR cover it with a strip of fabric.  Other options exist - draw-string and fitted.... and there's always commando (my no-fail when I'm having flares - I'm allergic to latex, but can deal with covered elastic, but if I've reacted lately, the reactions are worse - to latex, bananas, and avocadoes...  Um, sorry 'bout the TMI...)

Message me and I will give you info about my NAET blog. NAET was something I discovered when I became allergic to EVERYTHING during my second pregnancy.  It has changed my life.  It is possible you can see a practicioner near you and have his latex allergy removed.  I know it sounds weird!
