We got a baby boy, born 12-22-10, on Valentine's Day. Â He was in the NICU since birth for severe methadone exposure. In the weeks since we have had him, he has gained lots of weight and grown in length. He's gone from a withdrawn, shriveled, depressed baby to a sweet one that coos and talks and is easily contented. He sleeps well when tightly swaddled. It's been weird getting used to having a baby that is formula fed :/ He has visits with his parents weekly, which was a surprise, since they left the state before CPS took custody. No one thought they would see him again. So, it's been a rough couple of weeks with lots of surprises and ups and downs. I think we are finally getting into a groove, and settling down. I don't think there will be any suitable family to come forward, so at this point, he should be with us for around a year while his parents work their services. After a year, he will either go to his parents or be adoptable. We are a straight foster home, but are open to adopting the right placement. We have space for one more foster child, but really only room for a toddler. Since it looks like this placement is long term, I will probably be buying a new car that seats a family of 6-7 better LOL! Anyway, just wanted to let you all know. The nitty gritty details are on my blog- http://blueser.tumblr.com
