Hello:
Â
ds1 who is 5, is currently enrolled in primary Montessori. He started at 3.5 yo ; this is his second year. He enjoyed his first year, though his first teacher left for another school at the end of the academic year b/c of admin issues. The second year started and had been wonderful until about a month ago when his second teacher sudden had personal issues necessitating her to return home to another country. So in the interim, the (1 year new) director has stepped in as the temporary teacher until that position can be filled.
Â
Since the director has taken over the teaching position, I've noticed the following:
- ds1 has been doing this blinking-hard-thing with his eyes. It almost looks like a tic. It's not his vision, which I've tested.
- he arrives home tired, and telling us in the early evening that he is tired.... wants to go to bed. Something he has never done before.
-Â crying easily and over very insignificant reasons, less so than his usual.
- and then this morning, announced he had a surprise... which consisted of pulling the mattresses in the guest area off of the box spring, taking the sheets off, and in general messing up the room. Something he has never done before.
Â
So with the last event, I asked him if he was unhappy at school, since this is unusual behavior for him. And he just seemed sad, miserable and frustrated. Talking more with him, it sounds like his new teacher spends no time with him. Yesterday was actually parent visit day at school, and when I asked the teacher/ director about the multiplication activity that ds1 had told me he was learning, she made a comment about "not knowing" that he had worked on this, and that she "hadn't yet gotten....report" from the prior teacher. And this is weeks later. Then she kind of walked away. :(
Â
I am ready to pull him and just put him in a close by preschool. With the money we save every month, we could outfit the whole play area with Montessori activities. Not to mention the 1.5 h of commuting saved everyday.

Anybody, please have any advice? TIA for reading this.
