Does the FDA approve homeopathic remedies?

I always thought it did not, but I'm seeing more and more products being advertised as "FDA approved".

Homeopathic remedies are prepared according to the guidelines of the Homeopathic Pharmacopeia of the United States (HPUS), which was written into law in the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act in 1938. Homeopathic remedies are regulated in the same manner as nonprescription, over-the-counter (OTC) drugs. However, because homeopathic products contain little or no active ingredients, they do not have to undergo the same safety and efficacy testing as prescription and new OTC drugs.

The FDA does require that homeopathic remedies meet certain legal standards for strength, purity, and packaging.

Thanks for replying.  I knew all of that info already, I guess what I'm asking is: Does any of that mean that the FDA approves the products that it regulates?

Panserbjorne, you may have read in the diet thread about several of us having issues with a certain batch of Evoke drops.  The website used to say "Manufactured in an FDA-approved facility".  That's just clever marketing, considering homepathics have to be produced in accord with certain FDA guidelines.

Now the website says "Our hhCG is FDA-approved", which sort of leads one to think that their product is somehow better than other similar ones.

ah, that is a bit of a twist of the language....
