Sleepy newborn won't stay asleep.

Don't have much time to write in detail but my previously wonderfully sleeping newborn doesn't seem to be able to or just plain won't stay asleep during the day. I am breastfeeding and after she eats she will sleep for 10-20 minutes and then wake up. When she wakes up she is still yawning and seems tired but even after rocking, feeding again, changing, and laying her down in a darker quiet room she still will not go back to sleep. After 1-15 minutes of laying in her darker quiet room she will start fussing. I'm not sure if I should let her fuss longer before going to get her or if she is too young for that still. She still sleeps at night well and sticks to the same sleep schedule...waking every 2-4 hours to eat and be changed and then going back to sleep basically by herself.

What's going on with her day sleep??

Side note: sometimes she acts like a toddler stuck in a newborns body...like she wants to crawl around and play but that she is frustrated that her body won't cooperate.  ??I don't know how else to explain it??

Does she sleep better if you're holding her? What about wearing her? Wearing Cecilia was the best of both worlds for both of us. She only wanted to be held for sleep, and I did that for the first few weeks, but then I was getting so antsy just sitting there for hours every day. So I started putting her in the wrap just after she dozed off, and she would sleep against me for hours that way, and I was free to do stuff.

Do you have a nice, snug swaddle blanket? My kiddos (as babies!) always sleep better and longer when they've been wrapped up nice and cozy. We like the SwaddleMe blankets because they're very easy to use. Also, a white noise machine works wonders for our little guy.

That's true-- I hadn't even mentioned swaddling yet. It took Cecilia until she was about 4 months old to be okay with sleeping in the swing, but whenever she slept and it wasn't in the wrap, she was swaddled snugly. She might protest it at first, but the moment she was latched on, she'd just relax so sweetly and then sleep so much better with the swaddle.
