What's your favorite?  I'm looking for:

-low cost

-washable

-durable

-no sewn in handles

-stuffs into compact size

World market sells the best IMO. They have really nice long handles so you can easily carry the full bags on your shoulders. The fabric is thin but strong. They were less tha $4 each.

 

I added a link. I think the grocery bags get stocked whenever and aren't normally on the web site.

I just saw this on another thread.  I intend to do this tonight as I just discovered Aldi and need grocery bags.  I think this is the best idea ever!  I've been making them out of feed sacks (we get alot), and while they are durable as can be (and some are really cute), they are a pita to make for me because I am no seamstress, lol.

I love, love, love these - they are $8 each so not super cheap but not too bad.  Each bag can hold 2 - 3 regular bags of groceries and I always keep some in my diaper bag (I could probably fit 2 bags in my pants pocket so they are really compact).  I usually bring them on vacations for shopping and bring them to the beach, library, etc... baggubag.com
