clothes storage

My family of 5 (and likely to grow) will most likely be moving into a new house this spring.  It has 9 tiny bedrooms (all 8x12) each  of which has a smallllllll closet with a built in dresser.  I need to find a way to store our clothes that we hang up.  Our plan is to turn the 1 bedroom that has a full bath off of it into a big walk in closet and keep everyone's clothes there.  But, how to store the clothes that we hang up??  I have looked at some garment racks but it is so hard to tell if they will hold up.  Some say "commercial grade" but then you read in the reviews that they are flimsy.  I am considering hanging some clothes rods, but am wondering if that is the best thing.  Anyone ever do something like this?  Any suggestions or tips?  Thanks!

What about hanging clothing rods from the studs in the walls and curtains rods from the ceiling to make them look a bit more neat behind curtains?

If you look at Home Depot, they have tons of closet storage that sounds like it would work for you- expensive, but would work. You might be able to find some pieces used on kijiji, craigslist, or your local habitat for humanity. Those white wire shelves can come with a bar that attaches underneith so you get a shelf uptop and hanging room below.

You will love the communal closet :)   The shelves (usually in the laundry section) that have the shelve with the hanging rack below are great. My friend with a big family and communal closet has them. For kids clothing she has two (one above the other) as kids clothing is shorter than adult. And then baskets on the shelves to hold things like socks/undies/tights.
