We got the flu!

I was worried about this when I was pregnant and wouldn't you know it happened. My husband brought the flu home from work last week. He went home early on Thursday and spent all of Friday in bed. I started to feel a tickle in my throat Friday night and woke up Saturday achey and felt like crap. Saturday in the middle of the night I had a high temp and barely slept and it broke Sunday morning. Now today on Monday my older two children have temperatures and coughs. 

So far Hannah does not have a temperature. I am praying she does not get sick.

I've been worried about it too but at the same time I hate keeping us holed up in the house fearful of germs, especially with a 2 year old that gets stir crazy and drives me nuts.  I'm soooo hoping we aren't getting it here.  Last night DS was just miserable, grunting and groaning all.night.long.  Even cuddled up in bed with me he was just miserable.  When DD came in and woke us up at 7 he started crying like he was in pain....then he puked all over me.  And it was spitup, it was definitely throwing up, complete with the stomach noises and projectile out of his nose and mouth at the same time.  Sooooo gross.  Then it happened again about an hour later.  He was also realyl sweaty and clammy for a while after that.  The rest of the day he's been fine, no fever just a little fussy but hasn't been throwing up so I'm hoping he just had an upset tummy, maybe from something I ate?  Its so sad seeing a 7 week old being sick:(

I'm terrified of this happening at my house with the twins, dh works at a hospital so is exposed to a lot. He natually does not get much takes to constant exsposure probably and he gets the flu shot as well. But I don't and I have no idea how I would deal with two babies if I had the flu, let alone if they got it. ( for the first time ever I was thinking about getting a flu shot)

Ugh that sucks!!  I was so worried about getting sick when I was pregnant and already feeling awful, I prayed and prayed it would wait until after he was born.  WTF was I thinking? 

Asheby got a cold the day Abbott was born, lasted 4 weeks.

I had mastitis about 2 weeks ago... omg, worse than ever.  105/106 temp for 3 days, couldn't walk, couldn't eat, etc...  I have never been so sick in my life.

Then Sunday, Abbott woke up and threw up once in the morning, then later in the day Amethyst said there was something in his mouth while in the car.  I jumped out of the car and his mouth was FULL of mucous.  I dug out 3 fingerfuls.  Scared me so bad, I'm just glad he didn't choke.  I still don't know what caused it.

Now I have an ear infection, dh has a sinus infection. 

I don't even want to know whats next.  The stomach thing is going around here, I'll die if we get that.

Are you still in western WA? It is going around all over the place here where I live just south of Seattle. Now my older kids have it. They had all of last week off and of course got sick Sunday night and took Monday and today off of school. 

Thankfully I don't get the flu every year. The last time I had it was 5 years ago. I keep checking Hannah and so far so good. Thank GOD!

That is so scary! I woke up today and the side of my left breast was really sore. I am trying to make sure I don't get mastitis and I worry it might have started from me not getting rest and being sick.

I think that helped start mine, ZERO rest for a few nights.  I read online that ultrasound therapy can help clear it up quicker, and the vibrations of an electric toothbrush mimic that!  Or a vibrator, lol.  Just put it on the sore spot twice a day for 5 minutes.  Maybe that'll get it before it gets bad.  I'm going to try it at the first sign of pain next time.  Hoep it doesn't turn into anything!!

Ugh, we have it here also. My daughter started last Friday and we went to the doctor Monday because she was complaining about her ears also. They did a flu swab just to check even though my doctor didn't think she had it, but lo and behold--it came back positive. *sigh*

Because of Micah, the doctor prescribed Tamiflu for all of us. So far, just my daughter and husband seem to have it. My oldest son and I have *something* but I don't think it is the flu. If it is, it is mild at least. I'm doing saline drops in Micah's nose just to try and help flush it out and hopefully that will help somewhat. He is a bit congested, but not too bad. I'm hoping it doesn't get worse for him. The worst part has been trying to isolate Micah a bit from the other kids because they just love to get all over him.

I hope all the other Mama's with flu in the house get through it with few problems!
