Chiropractic Work Safe For Toddler?

Hi. My daughter (almost three years old) was recently diagnosed with asthma, because of a chronic cough. I researched for hours and hours everyday and I discovered she has reflux issues that are causing her chronic cough. We have made changes to her and my diet (still nurses), raised our bed at one end, stopped feeding her before bed and started feeding her smaller meals throughout the day so she doesn't get overfull. Her cough as improved tremendously! :)

In the middle of making those changes, I scheduled an appointment with a chiropractor in our area and we are taking her to see him today. I've been researching and researching and I don't know what I believe regarding the safety of chiropractic care. I'm so confused. I don't want to cause more harm to her, especially when we are already seeing improvments in her cough.

But, the chiropractor's wife, who I spoke with on the phone keeps assuring me that only good can come from making sure my daughter is aligned. (She made it clear that they dont specialize in any specific ailment. They just realign so that her body can help heal itself.

She said they would be willing to answer any questions I have at our appointment today. What do you guys think.

Is it safe. Sorry, my question mark button just quit working!

Thanks.

i totally believe in chiropractic care for toddlers! my little guy was out of whack from birth and we finally got him adjusted at the age of 3.5 and it helped with his moods a TON. i imagine it will do good for your daughter! they are VERY gentle, promise!

We've been getting chiro care for my DS since he was 4 weeks old.

The 'adjustments' that my chiros have done on my DS are so subtle and gentle that it looks like they are just rubbing his shoulders/neck, and I have never heard a pop.

When my son gets sick with a cough that lingers, chiro ALWAYS makes the cough go away, it is like magic.

My son has seen 3 different chiros and all have had lots of experience with children.

How will I know if this paticular chiropractor is good

Are there any questions I should askÉ

Thanks.

Also a fan here - my DS got his first adjustment at 2 days old in the hospital (My good friend is a chiro and was visiting!) He has been adjusted weekly all his life (almost 3 now).

The chiro he sees now is board certified in pediatric and maternal chiropractic care. I would make sure whoever you see is experienced in working with kids. Although most chiros will adjust children, some may have more experience than others. You can look here to see if there are any near you

My DS has had chiropractic work done since infancy, and the first time I was very hesitant. But I just asked a lot of questions before the treatment started, like what will you be doing and can you show me what you are going to do before you do it (LOL!). Those experienced in working with children use a very gentle touch, as a PP said, sometimes it looks like a massage or a gentle push here and there. Never any popping or cracking. The chiropractor we see showed me how hard she would touch DS by demonstrating on my arm and explained everything so I felt comfortable.

Thanks again guys. I took her and everything went fine. He showed me what the activator felt like. It's very gentle.
