Continued Success with Lithium plus oral chelation question

Hi everyone,

I've had my 7 1/2 year old daughter on lithium oratate (5 mg) for seven weeks now, and I'm excited to report that we've seen dramatic improvements over this time.  It took about a week to start helping, but once she got better, she hasn't turned back.

Since her vaccine reaction at 5 months, she's suffered from episodes which would cycle in and out...her issues included:

-ADHD symptoms, sometimes looked like mild autism

-horrible rages/temper tantrums

-severe mood swings

-sensory problems

-trouble sleeping

-ticks

-anxiety

-much more...too much to list, but you get the idea

The doctor she saw, who is an MD in the Dallas area, is trained in heavy metal toxicity and the resulting issues.  She told us that often heavy metal poisoning can cause a severe lithium deficiency, which can lead to many neurological and sensory issues.

I can't express how right this doctor has been so far, and how much better my daughter is.  She is like a new person.  She is level, she can make sustained eye contact all the time, she can focus, she hasn't had a single meltdown (we were dealing with major fits almost daily) and she's HAPPY.  She isn't running into walls, or falling over, or scratching and clawing her arms until they bleed, or banging her head on the wall in her room.  She isn't getting "stuck" on a number or phrase and repeating it over and over again like a broken record.  Her teacher says she's gone from a C- average to nearly straight A's for six weeks in a row.

The relief my husband and I feel is tainted by the guilt that we should have tried this treatment sooner.

The next step for her involves mega-doses of vitamins, because after a hair analysis test and blood tests, she has been found to be extremely toxic in aluminum, lead, arsenic and many other heavy metals...and extremely deficient in many vitamins and minerals.  The doctor prescribed oral chelation, which is an all natural formulation, but she said she wants her vitamins and mineral levels up first before starting the chelation, since the chelation process can also remove good stuff from the body.

So I'm writing to ask if any of you have gone through oral chelation with your child, and what results did you have...?  After the chelation, Emma should no longer require the mega doses of vitamins, or the lithium supplementation, since her body will be better able to absorb what she needs from food.

And please, I cannot say enough about the lithium supplementation.  It is NOT the prescription form...it's the all-natural over the counter form, and is at the lowest dose available.  It has worked miracles for us.  Look into it if you've been struggling with similar issues and you suspect heavy metal toxicity.

That's great that the lithium has made such a huge difference. My son is going through oral chelation as well. He tested high for mercury and lead. So far, we haven't seen a whole lot of behavioural changes, but we're in the first round. What I would keep in mind also is that along with the chelation, you may have to do some healing of hte gut supplements

. From what I"ve read and been told by our doctor, a lot of people who have high heavy metal concentrations often don't absorb the nutrients that they should (possibly leading to the lithium loss) and they don't excrete heavy metals as well. So, even if you go through the chelation process and the heavy metal levels go down, if the gut is the issue, they could build back up in her system. So it's something to check with your doctor about.

Where do you get the lithium/what brand?  Does she swallow a pill, or do you add it to food?

The doctor carries it; I think it's called Pure Encapsulations, lithium orotate, 5 mg. She swallows it, in fact she had to learn to swallow a pill to be able to take it. I'm sure there must be other formulations.

I do expect DS will be going through some kind of chelation soon, but we haven't gotten there yet.  In our case, it wasn't from vaccines, he got it from me greensad.gif (I need chelation too).

Hello Emma,

We just started using Pure Encapsulations Lithium Orotate 5mg a day divided in three doses.  I decided to give it a try because I was desperate to help my daughter with her recent explosion of violent meltdowns.  We have been doing oral chelation with low dose DMSA and recently added Alpha Lipoic Acid, she has made very good progress, the most outstanding is her new interest in toys, when she regressed she lost all of her play skills and now they seem to be coming back!  The chelation has had some side effects in terms of yeast and bacteria flare ups, and the last three weeks have been rough because her irritability has been increasing to the point of having violent meltdowns, she had not had a meltdown in over a year so we were shocked to see them come back.  Lithium has been a miracle in our house!  She's really improved in only 5 days, she's more in control of her emotions, she can control her frustration and she's happy most of the time.  I can't wait to see how Lithium and oral chelation continue to help her. smile.gif

Lithium is a heavy metal and has no known function in the human body or any other living organism. It is not a necessary biological element for life. Lithium in the "natural" or orotate form as well as the "un-natural" carbonate form both have adverse consequences in the body. Here is an example of the endocrine disrupting effects of lithium in females. This is a clinical study abstract.

The orotate form of lithium is also more bioavailable and therefore builds up in the brain more quickly, leading to increased chances of toxicity. Another clinical study abstract...

Increased kidney toxicity from orotate salts...

DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE ON THE INTERNET OR FROM NATROPATHIC DOCTORS ABOUT LITHIUM OROTATE. IT IS NOT SAFE. (Chelation can be safe.. lithium orotate is NOT!)
