I'm sure it's possible, just maybe not very likely.  I'm not sure what kind of CM I had when we conceived DS because I was not monitoring my CM at all.

Thanks. I haven't seen that type in a long while, at least not the super stretchy so I am concerned that might mean we have a fertility issue.

It is possible to have poor CM production without there being anything else wrong.  If that's the only issue you're noticing, it's an easy fix.  You can use pre-seed, or check out his little snippet I just found on The Labor of Love:

There are some very basic things that you can do to create more fertile cervical mucus. The first is to drink more water and decrease or do away with the caffeine in your diet. If you take antihistamines you will want to stop taking them or reduce the amount that you take because these not only dry up the sinuses, they also dry up your cervical mucus! Increasing your fluid intake and doing away with caffeine and antihistamines will likely make your cervical mucus be much more fertile so that you have a better chance of becoming pregnant.

If increased fluids, a reduction in caffeine, and limiting or doing away with your antihistamines doesn't seem to provide an improvement in the fertile quality of your cervical mucus you may want to try Evening Primrose Oil. Evening Primrose Oil has been used for generations to help increase cervical mucus and many women swear that it is the only reason that they were able to get pregnant. The oil has essential fatty acids among other properties that aide the body in producing more high quality cervical mucus. You can take 1500mg to 3000mg daily, but this should only be taken from menstruation until ovulation as it is known to cause uterine contractions which could prevent a fertilized egg from implanting properly.

Along with Evening Primrose Oil you may want to take flax seed oil. This works in much the same way as Evening Primrose as it delivers essential fatty acids. In fact, you can pick up with Flax seed where you leave off with Evening Primrose Oil during your cycle. The two often make a good combination and will help produce all of the cervical mucus you need to aide in conception.

Many women swear that grapefruit juice helps to increase the quality of cervical mucus, though there is not a whole lot of data to back these claims up. However, there are literally thousands of women that swear by grapefruit juice, so its worth a try if you are willing. If nothing else, grapefruit juice will get more fluids in you, which will help product more fertile mucus!

HTH, Good Luck!

Thanks for the info Bugglette! I have been wondering how to improve my CM and appreciate the link.

Interesting. I didn't realize caffeine could cause a problem with CM. I'd heard drinking green tea was good for CM and fertility, and I believe it has caffeine in it. I wonder if I was given wrong info?

I regularly eat ground flax seed in my food, but not the oil,  Will do the same thing as the "oil" in making cervical mucus better?

Caffeine is an issue because it is a diuretic, and you need lots of hydration to produce lots fertile CM.  Green tea contains so many beneficial nutrients, which is what helps develop fertile CM, those nutrients are worth the caffeine trade-off.  Or, double bonus, you can drink decaf green tea

I assume that you still get some oil from the ground flax seed, but you would have to eat a LOT of ground flax seed to equal the same amount of oil you get in one pill.

I have also heard green tea is good.  Green tea and black tea are quite different in caffeine content.

Update, for 6 months I am going to refrain from using charting, temping, checking CM, and consuming any special foods or special supplements.  Will report back in 6!

I just came across this thread and I realize the OP is no longer charting, but I wanted to say that we conceived #3 with NO cervical fluid whatsoever.  I did not think O was anywhere near b/c I had zero fertility signs.  We DTD once and the next day my temp spiked.  Go figure.  So much for CTA!

I also wanted to add that the quality of CF can vary drastically cycle to cycle based on what's going on in your life.  If you have a little cold or allergies or something it can dry your CF right up.  Some cycles my EW is out of control and other cycles the most I get is sticky.

Good luck with your 6 months off of charting.  That worked like a charm for my cousin!  winky.gif

How long did your cousin try before she took a break from trying?

She stopped avoiding for maybe 2 months (she figured she would get pg right away b/c they DTD all the time LOL) and then started charting and really ttc for 4-5 months, gave up on charting and I think conceived 1-2 cycles later.  Her body had to regulate after BCP, though, too.

Yes, it's hard to figure out what the universe is doing when people like me get an oops that we really did not want and others miscarry repeatedly or cannot get pregnant at all.  It's heartbreaking on both ends.

Reporting back early: still on this same path.

I like to think it will all make sense in the end so why waste time trying to figure it out when that is impossible at this time.
